Women Silent On 18th Amendment At Maryland GOP Meet
At the Francis Scott Key Hotel in Baltimore the Maryland Federation of Republican women endorsed Mrs. W. Bladen Lowndes for national committee woman and recommended Mrs. John A. Holmes and Lowndes as delegates to the national convention. About 125 members from Baltimore and surrounding counties attended as debates arose over an Eighteenth Amendment fidelity resolution. A substitute without reference to the amendment was adopted, and other resolutions honored the party’s July 6 anniversary. Speakers included Dr. Joseph H. Apple and J. Frank Supplee, with calls to study politics and a note that prohibition remains the key issue for 1928.
