Chief of Police Charles V Main said a 27 year old Frederick man Leroy Dotson was arrested for breaking and entering Ty ler's Jewelry Store on North Market Street. The store window was broken around 12 15 a.m. and about 235 dollars worth of jewelry stolen, later recovered. Dotson is jailed on 1000 bond awaiting a preliminary hearing. investigation led by Detective Lt. Ellis G. Carty and Det Sgt. Paul W. Mossburg.

A 19 year old Clarksburg man, Robert Eugene Yokley, was sentenced to six months in Maryland House of Correction and fined 500 dollars after being found guilty of manslaughter by automobile for a November 12 crash on U S 40 A near Happy Acres Nursery that killed passenger Carl Saunders. He also drew fines for driving with a revoked license speed and failing to keep right. Saunders died at the hospital, and an appeal was noted by Yokley’s attorney Irving A Abb. In the same session Lloyd R Mitchell was acquitted of assault charges.

Blue Cross Seeks 14.6 Percent Rate Increase
Blue Cross filed with the state insurance commissioner for an average rate hike of 14.6 percent. The hospitalization plan reported a net loss of 550000 last year on its standard program and said reserves are under 1 million, the lowest in history. The increases would start July 1 and mark the fifth rise since 1958, ranging from 50 cents a month for individuals in group plans to 1.80 for family policies not in groups. A Blue Cross spokesman called the increase a minimum necessary to ensure continued sound operation.
