Fair success on first day of trout season

Anglers enjoyed mild opening day on streams with fair success and light crowds. Big Hunting Creek and Fishing Creek drew dozens of fishermen while Middle Creek yielded notable catches by Marion Carmack and Roy Mumford. Officials reported no violations and guests included prominent national and state figures at Brewster and Richey lodges. The day featured flat water and cool 48 degree temps as fish remained conservative.
