Burkittsville man faces capital murder in Va trooper death

Gregory Warren Beaver 20 of Burkittsville is jailed on 1 million bond charged with capital murder in the shooting of Virginia State Trooper Leo Whitt 48 along I 95 near Petersburg. Preliminary hearing set for Wednesday in Prince George County District Court after Beaver and a hitchhiker were in a stolen Camaro.

Skeleton identified in Maryland homicide case

Positive identification made on the skeleton found last Thursday near Union Bridge Maryland as William S Lauver 63 of 106 W Fort Ave Baltimore. State police say foul play suspected and the case is treated as homicide with a black male suspect described as 25 to 30 years old 5 7 to 5 10 tall 140 to 160 pounds seen driving Lauvers car near Westminster the day after he disappeared May 15 1983.
