A survey of 170 voters from Frederick County identified elder community needs, electing a school board, and preserving rural character as top state issues for the Maryland General Assembly race. The poll found 95 percent favor real estate tax relief for the elderly, 87 percent back an elected school board, and 55 to 45 percent split on state funding for nonpublic schools. Voters called for growth controls, opposed Mandel land use limits, and favored annual auto inspections with concerns over costs. Ijamsville Man Lost In Potomac River
State Police report an Ijamsville man Samuel Brengle age 31 missing presumed drowned after a canoe capsized on the Potomac. Frances Brengle was rescued by a boater named George Wiles as crews from state police ambulance and DN R search in heavy river water. Floods Leave Thousands Homeless In Mississippi
