Wild Run On The Rail Tornado Propels Runaway Train
A tornado near Akron unrooted the round house and sent eight coal cars rolling down grade with no engine power. The cars speed through eight stations on the Barrington and Missouri lines toward Denver, as wind drove the derailed train uncontrolled along level track.

Destructive Fire Destroys Works at Gavners and Morris Plants
A fierce blaze swept the Gavners eliss works and Morris oil cloth plant, destroying the glass works and two or three story buildings at the Beth Works. Three other landings were ruined. Losses place Morris factory at 373 600 with two thirds likely insured. Gavners glass-works valued at 30,000 for the building and 1,500 for tools. Firemen injured, about 100 men unemployed. stock rooms held 40,000 pounds of finished cloth.
