County budget appeals for centralized purchasing controls

Frederick County Purchasing Director Lee Koontz urged the County Commissioners to create a new buyer position to centralize procurement. The plan seeks three buyers, while the 86 budget shows modest increases for finance and purchasing.

Frederick County Faces 450000 Retirement Payment Over 36 Years

Actuarial adjustments from 1989 show Frederick County and others underpaid the retirement system for 1969 to 1980. The county must now pay 450000 over 36 years, but a new General Assembly session may cut the county's retirement contribution by 281000. The board reviewed the administrative division budget, proposing 677000 for the coming year, up 4 percent, and 541000 for planning, up 9 percent, with a new administrative specialist approved for the planning office to handle increased zoning activity.
