Frederick officer’s three day suspension under review
Circuit Court Judge Mary Ann Stepler reviews the legitimacy of a three day suspension for Frederick policeman Richard Hetherington. The hearing examined a 1995 department board ruling that he disobeyed a lawful order. Attorney William Thompson argued evidence and witness testimony were ignored, saying Hetherington complied by ending his paperwork and staying available for calls while continuing required processing of evidence. Anne-Herbert Rollins countered that return to service means reporting for street duty. A written opinion will follow in about 30 days.
