Two Jackson children die in Frederick apartment fire
A West All Saints Street fire gutted an eight unit building early Monday. Three year old Darrell Jackson died in the blaze and five year old David Jackson died later at University Hospital Baltimore from extensive burns. Forty eight residents were displaced and Red Cross aid organized meals and clothing. Graveside services for David and Darrell Jackson were held at Fairview Cemetery with Hicks Funeral Home arranging.

Teen-Agers Injured In Rt. 40 Wreck
Two Frederick county teens, Mark Steven Redmond 16 and Roger Lee Bartholow 16, were injured when Redmond's car was broadsided by William Sidney Cafer 46 on U.S. 40 three miles east of Frederick. Bartholow suffered scalp injuries. Redmond was treated and released after lacerations to his face. Redmond faces a charge of failing to grant the right of way. A seven-year-old bicyclist in Frederick was also slightly injured after a car struck him along West Seventh.

Two Prisoners Shot in Maryland Prison Riot
BREATHEDSVILLE Md AP Two prisoners were shot as State Police and guards used tear gas to quell a riot by about 400 inmates at the Maryland Correctional Institution. One other prisoner and four guards were injured but released from hospital. The riot, in the dining hall at 5:30 a.m., ended after two hours with guards and troopers restraining inmates. The institution, housing 1495 inmates, was built for 800 and had not priorly rioted.
