Opposition to Detrick Expansion Faces County Board

The Frederick County Board of Commissioners opposes the U.S. Chemical Corps plan to acquire 529 acres north of Camp Detrick between West Seventh Street and the Opossumtown Pike. They cite loss of residential and agricultural land, tax base reduction, and road-bisecting effects, while noting the plan may be dropped if opposition grows. Local planning officials and neighboring counties express skepticism, and Defense officials may reconsider site selection if opposition widens.
