Ex-Senator Voorhees Dies After Long Illness

Ex Senator Daniel Woolsey Voorhees of Indiana died at his Washington home after more than two years of declining health. Born 1827 in Ohio, he moved to Indiana, practiced law, served as U S district attorney, then entered Congress and the Senate, where he was twice reelected. He suffered rheumatism of the heart and had continued to attend Senate sessions until late.
