Montgomery County to pilot seatbelt buses and weighted class rank
The Montgomery County Board of Education approved a pilot program to fit about 50 new buses with seat belts starting in September, with $75,000 for belts and drivers chosen by seniority. The board also endorsed weighted class rank for the class of 1987 and beyond, setting a five course weighting limit and requiring an evaluation of impacts on honors enrollment. Transfers announced include John Burton to Belmont Elementary in Olney and Beverly Harmon to Taylor Learning Center in Boyds, effective July 1.
