Frederick Recreation Commission announced pool openings on June 13 and playground openings on June 22 with staff training to precede use. Man Charged In Three Robberies
City Police arrested Elmer Woodrow Toms Jr. 20 at Hotel Frederick and charged him with three break ins and robberies at Morgan's Restaurant 412 North Market on March 6 12 and again this Thursday. More than $100 was taken from a hiding place at each incident. Officer notes entry through a nailed back window above a stove. He is held on 2000 bond awaiting a preliminary hearing. Police also sought a 19 year old Black woman Rose Jackson of Chapel Alley treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital for multiple lacerations.

A twin engine Bonanza with three men aboard belly landed at Frederick Municipal Airport and caught fire. All three escaped unharmed. plane valued at about $30,000. The craft reportedly was rented earlier from Gaithersburg airport as firefighters worked the scene.

First Report On Cancer Fund Given In Frederick County

Tracks Reopened After 17 Hour Coal Train Derailment
Western Maryland Railway crews cleared tracks blocked for 17 hours by a derailment that sent 15 coal cars off the line near Hancock Maryland. The crash occurred when an earthmover building Interstate 70 slid into the train from, Cumberland to Hagerstown. No injuries were reported. Traffic was diverted to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad during the blockage.

About 1 300 local Girl Scouts join more than 17 000 in Anne Arundel and neighboring counties to sell four cookie varieties through April 25.
