Indians Lived In Frederick County Area Revealed By Excavations
A Maryland study notes seven Indian villages in central Frederick County area between 1748 and 1768, with Poolesville remains yielding 28 cabins and 72 skeletons. It describes Tuscarora, Delawares, and Catawbas clashes, a possible graveyard by Conococheague, and artifacts including pipes and war axes.
