Local Plant Will Go On 45 Hr Week
Supreme Concrete Block Company of Frederick will switch to a 45 hour week starting Monday after a backlog of orders. The firm, which has operated 40 hours for three years, produced its 2,000,000th block on April 2 and donated it to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. G Robert Lyles presented the block to Lemuel J. Keller, with M. E. Staley and Franklin G. Baumgardner also participating. The block would cover 311 miles if laid end to end, nine times all Frederick City streets.

The Zonta Club plans a meeting to award prizes in an essay contest titled Why It Is Good Business To Employ The Handicapped. Frederick County winners will be named by Dr. James A. Sensenbaugh. 49 entries statewide and nationally, with judges from Frederick Vocational Rehabilitation and local businesses. Prizes go to the top three, announced at the Zonta Club dinner with remarks on Washingtons famous cherry tree gift.
