Captain Wheaton died in Ocean City after living in Tuckahoe. Witnesses describe his long decline and mental unsoundness in recent years.
The United States Court of Appeals in St Paul ruled unanimously that the Northern Pacific and Great Northern combined holding company violated antitrust laws. The Securities Company cannot vote or receive dividends, and must return stock to the original holders while both railways remain restrained from further control or influence. The ruling followed a 1903 antitrust framework and was joined by all four judges led by Judge Thayer.
J P Morgan declined to judge the Northern Securities ruling before reading its full text and hinted the decision may not harm railroad enterprises.
