Psychiatric patient charged with raping girl in Silver Spring
A 16 year old psychiatric patient was charged as an adult with rape after a Monday assault on a six year old girl in Silver Spring. Police arrested William Karl Thompson at Edgemeade Treatment Center in Upper Marlboro following a television composite lead. The incident occurred during a routine group meeting at the center for adolescents with emotional problems. Thompson, a resident there for 10 months, had returned home for an Easter weekend visit at the time of the crime. He is in custody at the Detention Center without bond.
