Parachutist Survives 7200 Foot Fall In Northern Illinois
Jeff Wetzell of Rock Falls survived a failed parachute opening during a Sky Diving Club jump from 7200 feet. He landed in a wet plowed field, breaking two ankles and a vertebra. Wetzell, with two teammates, faced a partial chute at 400 to 700 feet. pilot Bob Brandt and USA Parachute Association members weighed in on impact speed and survivability.
