Baltimore Man Found Guilty Of Bookmaking
Patrick Michael Probst pleaded guilty to operating a bookmaking and lottery scheme from a Baltimore apartment in Sykesville. Judge E I Weant Jr. sentenced him to one year in jail and a 5000 dollar fine, suspended with a payment deadline. State’s Attorney T Brian McIntyre noted the case as the second of its kind in recent months and said Probst collected bets via a Baltimore telephone. he was allowed a plan to pay the fine after raising two thousand dollars.

City Police To Be Honored At Sunday Service
Frederick City Police Department led by Major Charles V Main will be honored Sunday at 11 am during a service at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick. About 20 officers and their families will attend as the congregation recognizes their service to the community. The Rev Francis Reinberger will preach with Rev Atland C Hobbs assisting. Music by the senior choir directed by William Sprigg. The city police force began in 1867 and, as of 1966, had 40 men and 14 school guards. Now the force stands at 1.48 officers per 1000 residents over 64 square miles and 80 miles of streets.
