Labor Unions Opposed Injunction Bill Hearings
Washington March 24 The House Judiciary Committee continued hearings on the anti injunction bill. Indiana State Senator Matson attacked labor unions saying their aim is to intimidate coerce and browbeat and to overthrow settled institutions. He called John Mitchell the most conservative labor leader yet claimed he spoke falsehoods about working men. Samuel Gompers defended labor against charges of socialism and asserted union leadership represents the most skilled and intelligent workers, while acknowledging not a majority but a strong influential portion of the workforce.
