LOSAP plan eyed for $100 monthly lifetime payouts
Frederick County officials consider replacing the current LOSAP $2,000 lump sum at 65 with a $100 per month lifetime payout for qualifying volunteers. The proposal, supported by the Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association led by Judy White, aims to boost retention of about 1,800 enrolled volunteers who must meet 25 years of service and 50 points per year. The change would remove the $8,000 beneficiary cap and keep overall county costs similar to the present $225,000 annual LOSAP funding, with a public hearing planned.
