SWAT training in Frederick County uses former East Frederick Elementary as a bank robber scenario site. Nineteen officers from Anne Arundel County plus Frederick city and county participate in two weeks of lectures and hands on drills coordinated by Cpls. Randy Freysz and Scott Jewell. Fort Detrick to consolidate nine activities in new $8 million building
Nine Detrick activities will be consolidated into a new two story facility on the Fort Detrick installation. The $8.2 million, 64 106 square foot building will house the command headquarters the Medical Materiel Development Activity and the Medical Research Acquisition Activity. Construction begins 1995 with a planned 1996 opening. The project aims to improve efficiency while preserving each unit’s mission. An environmental assessment says no significant impact and notes the site near the helipad will not affect the required safety zone.
