Children must join unions to do farm work
Representative Anderson released correspondence with Secretary Perkins showing his demand that school children helping in harvesting and processing California crops not be required to join labor unions. Perkins noted AFL initiation fees reduced to two dollars with one month dues, and no worker pay more than three dollars for the season. Dexter denied statements that children would have to join unions. Anderson insisted he will not be satisfied until students can assist in harvesting and processing food crops without joining unions or paying fees.
