Draft Papers Again Mailed
Mailing of questionnaires to the first registrants in the February draft registration began today. About 200 questionnaires per board will be mailed this week at five cents a day for four days. Parsons Newman, chairman of Draft Board One, hopes mailing can be stepped up in two to three weeks. A new assistant clerk, Mrs. Philip Rosenbaum, starts today. Local attorneys will assist registrants in filling questionnaires, with daily duty by some attorneys. The petit jury room on the Court House second floor will be used. Registrants have ten days to return forms to the boards. Occupational inventory forms for over 3,000 new registrants are not yet received, so inventory plans cannot be set. These forms cover current employment, skills, and ability, in addition to regular classification questionnaires. A second item notes a Frederick City crew cutting fire trails on the municipal watershed to aid forest fire fighting. The Foxville land Hamburg fire towers opening was postponed due to heavy snow. Salamander tower opened Sunday, Lambs Knoll has been open for weeks.
