MontCo liquor czar asked to retire
Montgom ery County executive Charles W Gilchrist has asked Robert A Passmore, longtime head of the Department of Liquor Control, to retire. Passmore, 53, said he would resist and may be fired with added retirement benefits. County leaders criticized Gilchrist for leaking the move and for running the department like a business, while a task force had urged the county to keep its liquor monopoly with reform.
