Khrushchev Distorting U S Policy Creates International Tension
The United States accused Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev of distorting U S policy on nuclear test suspensions during his Budapest visit. White of the State Department blamed him for propagandistic framing while noting Washington plans diplomacy later this month despite no immediate talks on a test ban. The remarks linked Khrushchev to Hungary's 1956 crackdown, stressing U S openness to negotiations through diplomatic channels and cautioning against perceived interference in internal affairs.
