The Frederick Board of Aldermen plans to decide tonight on a Federal aid contract for extending East street from Eighth to North Market near the IOOF Home. If approved, the city would pay about 60000 of a total 120000 project with half funded by the Federal Bureau of Roads and the state intermediary. Construction toward Ninth Street is certain, with grading this year and paving between Eighth and Ninth, and remaining work to be staged into 1951 or after.

April 4 Washington — Conrad E. Snow, chairman of the State Department loyalty board, said the board knows of no Communists in the department. Donald L. Nicholson testified there is continuous checking of employee loyalty and that there are no card carrying Communists there. Aged couple faces assault case in Peoples Court
A 75 year old couple from Key avenue appeared in Peoples Court this morning on an assault and battery charge. The prosecuting witness claimed the man struck the woman with a piece of wood. Officers testified to finding the scene with a bloodied floor and the woman injured. The defendant was remanded to jail for examination. In a separate non support matter, Donald C. Smith was ordered to pay child support. Additional collateral forfeitures were recorded for several traffic and stop sign violations. Officers Lt. Walter May and Trooper Patrick Stakem Jr. made the arrests.
