Phillips Packing Co sale imminent to Consolidated Foods
Cambridge April 3 sale of Phillips Packing Co with 20 plants in Maryland and Delaware to Consolidated Foods Corp appeared imminent in a joint statement by Phillips Jr and S M Kennedy. Purchase would be by stock issuance and take effect after June 30 with Phillips remaining president. Consolidated has been expanding by acquiring peer firms and the deal covers three states.
