Grand Jury Begins Split Session in Frederick County

Thurmont Man Dies In Smoke Filled Motel Room
A 65 year old Thurmont man Charles Eyler was found dead in a smoke filled room at the Colonial Motel in Essex after a mattress fire. Baltimore County Police say carbon monoxide inhalation caused his death. The fire was discovered by truck driver Lewis Pennington who with motel owner Clarence Rossier carried Eyler outside. Middle River Fire Department could not revive him and he was pronounced dead by the medical examiner. Eyler was born in Frederick County and survived by three sons and several siblings.
