Report from Cape Hayden Haiti dated April 3 describes a three hour battle between government troops and rebels near Santo Domingo City with about 100 killed or wounded. US cruiser Atlanta landed 50 bluejackets to guard the American consul general as shells from the Dominican cruiser Presidente damaged the German consulate.
