City weighs 1/5 ownership in McCrory purchase plan
Frederick officials discussed a $50,000 city contribution to acquire the old McCrorys building with one-fifth ownership and possible conditions or repayment. The plan seeks state bond grant support and signals a fast track, with a final April 16 vote and other city county talks ongoing. The Maryland Senate approved reallocating a few million dollars from the 42 billion Transportation Trust Fund to mass transit in the Washington suburbs, despite Rural opposition. Supporters argue urban transit benefits rural riders through MARC and regional access, while critics warn reduced funds for roads and bridges.
