All Saints and Grace Church schedule Holy Communion sermons Lenten services and youth meetings. Grace Church lists midweek prayer, adult classes, confirmations and bicentennial pageant rehearsals. Other denominations including Trinity M E, Calvary M E, First Baptist, and various county churches detail Sunday schools, worships, and special services with dates and leaders.
Rev. J. Apdegraph will lead regional conferences in Woodsboro Oak Hill Zittlestown Edgewood and Frederick starting April 3 with Parkway Church of God in Frederick hosting a revival series. The events promote evangelism missions Christian education youth and citizenship as part of the Church of God second century program.
The Mid dle District Luther League will hold its annual banquet in the city on May 2. The date was announced at a spring rally at St. Pauls Lutheran church Walkersville led by president Thomas Albaugh Taneytown. The rally drew about 300 members and visitors as state secretaries spoke on education mission life and service and outlined the new church year. A note of optimism ran through the meeting and most leagues have paid dues in full. Also planned is a W C T U rally service April 7 at New Market M E church with Grace Matheson as guest speaker. A series of evangelistic services begins Sunday at 7 45 pm at Thurmont United Brethren Church led by Rev Ivan C G Nangle. Services run nightly except Saturday through Easter with gospel singing to start each evening. Visiting ministers preach first week from Monday to Friday, then Rev Naugle continues in the second week.
The Young People's Society of Pleasant Hill gathers Sunday evening at 7:30. After a brief song service led by Fen ton Harris, the program features Church Street School orchestra selections under Charles C. T. Stull, readings by Jean Moser and Virginia Nicodemus, violin piece by Charles Shook, Kemp Sisters vocal, address by Rev. John W. Fisher, and a pantomime Christ the Lord Is Risen Today with Eloise Dutrow and others. Linoleum’s England debut noted as 1860.
Three American missionaries Rev and Mrs A Ho Harsh of Harsh West Virginia and Miss Minerva Neher of LaVerne California vanish in Show Yang China after being called to settle a family quarrel. They left without escort and have not been seen since December 3. Japanese officials US officers and Brethren Church missionaries have searched with little result.
The Boyds Presbyterian church in Boyds Maryland announces Sunday services led by Rev. James Patterson Kerr. The morning service at 11 o’clock features the theme Loyalty to the Cross of Christ. The evening service is Ladies' Night with a guest speaker and a special musical program. Sunday school meets at 10. Men’s Night is planned for Sunday evening April 10.
