Jail renovation slips behind schedule in Frederick County
The Frederick County Adult Detention Center expansion, a 112-bed wing and a 3,000-square-foot kitchen, is about three months late with October 31 as the new completion target. Construction began August 1994 and is 25 percent complete, facing cost sharing between the county and Maryland’s Department of Public Safety and Corrections. The project includes a temporary medical unit and is the first phase of a four-phase jail overhaul with later phases budgeting millions more and potential delays into 1997 to 2001.
