Constellation hull deemed sound but frame raises concern
Navy divers examined the Constellation in Baltimore and found the hull and keel planks in fair shape while the ship's frame prompts worry. The underside looks solid but repair needs remain unclear until further inspection under the hull planks. Linden of the Constellation Foundation estimated extensive work could cost about 250000, with a $9 million goal to dry dock and restore the ship, and a campaign to raise at least 3 million from foundations, corporations, and private donors to begin in a month or two.
