Car Driver Killed When Route 340 Buick Hits Tree
A Knoxville man, Harry George Shafer, 37, was killed when his 1953 Buick left Route 340 north of Knoxville, struck a 16 inch tree, and split in two. Police say he died of a broken neck, crushed chest and compound leg fracture. he was trapped and pronounced dead at the scene. Shafer, employed by the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, lived at RFD 1 Brodsville and was survived by his mother, two sisters, and a brother. Services set for Friday at 11 in Middletown with burial in Reformed cemetery.
