Budget Bill Sent to Governor in Maryland amid tax debate
The Maryland State Senate approved a 269 million dollar budget for the next fiscal year and sent it to Governor McKeldin, fending off attempts to restore 1.227 million trimmed from the budget. Senate Finance planned a separate tax proposal to raise about 30 million in extra revenue, while House leaders disagreed on withholding and exemptions. The session also touched on home rule, bond referendum timing, a toll road bill, and a potential Garrett County liquor dispensary plan.
