Frederick native First Lieutenant Francis X Staley Jr has joined the Berlin airlift after a World War I service and later training. He left Springfield March 23 for Frankfurt and is now stationed in Weisbaden Germany, flying supplies in twelve hour shifts with twenty four hours between rotations. His wife Ann Staley and their two children remain in the city awaiting further details of his tour.

Status Of Vets Housing In Frederick Faces Uncertainty
The M J Grove Lime Company indicated it would not extend the lease on the 134 acre Pennsylvania avenue veterans housing site beyond April 30 unless a more satisfactory agreement is reached. E D Michael Dies At Home Rites Sunday
Ernest David Michael a Frederick resident died at his home 122 West Third street after a five day illness. He would have been 78 on April 26. He was a prominent dairy farmer and a founder of Peoples Drug Company of Maryland later sold to Peoples Drug Stores of Washington. Collision damages two cars on North Market Street
At 9 15 this morning on North Market Street near Sixth Street two parked cars collided. Chester L Wastler of Frederick Route 3 was parking on the east side when Irving K Cohen of Washington northbound on Market struck Cohen’s sedan causing about 100 dollars damage to the right side. Wastler’s vehicle had minor damage. City Officer Arnold Simmons investigated. no charges filed.

Savannah report notes W. H. Labret, 48, Maryland sportsman and publisher, died of a heart attack while flying from Nassau to his home near Annapolis.
