Railroad extension work underway at White River line
The Batesville Guard reports heavy earthwork on the White river railroad extension is progressing with much of the cuts and fills completed though grading remains. Sub-contractor J M Woll arrived from Booneville Missouri as fifty teams are expected to join soon. Principal J H Reynolds and chief engineer Rohner of Missouri Pacific inspected the site this week and called for more teams.

Willie Ireland four year old son of Mrs Ella Ireland of Pine and Second Streets died at five o'clock Tuesday morning after a week of illness slow fever. A burial was held Monday afternoon at Diaz where the family had lived before moving to the city.
