Stabbed to the Heart Bud Scott Killed by Charley Strong
Friday night near Sixth and Main streets a dispute over a girl named May Purdy ended in the killing of Bud Scott by Charley Strong. A gang of about 18 year old Negro youths fought over the woman, and in the final act Strong allegedly stabbed Scott in the heart. The body was taken to R F Drummond undertakers and an inquest found death by knife wound in the heart.

Prominent Jefferson County Man Dies By Self Destruction
Mr Geo W Taylor a well known Jefferson county resident killed himself at his home six miles from Alzheimer last Friday between 1 and 2 pm. He was found in his room lying in a pool of blood with a razor on the floor. No note or disclosed plan. Thought to be in financial distress. He was fifty two and owned a two hundred acre farm. Three sons and three daughters survive.

Fire destroys Pekin Stave Plant at Paragould Arkansas
A Sunday morning blaze wiped out the Pekin Stave and Manufacturing Company plant in Paragould, Arkansas, causing heavy damage above the boiler room. Night watchman John Pranger discovered the fire too late for containment. insurance is expected to cover losses and 60 to 65 workers lose their jobs though some will stay on to clear debris and begin rebuilding on the same site. Laborers began work today pending insurance settlement this week.
