A twelve year old boy named Robi Dorsey was caught stealing from Otto M Bowen’s cash drawer around 9 am Wednesday. He claims to be new in town and to have an unverified father in Jacksonport. The boy has prior shoplifting attempts, and was jailed by night officer Huffman, with little prospect of punishment beyond a brief jail stay due to age.

Mehnert Wins Judgment Against Whit Wall in Damages Case
In the case of H A Mehnert versus Whit Wall traveling representative of Simmons Hardware of St Louis a judgment was entered against Wall for 380 75 later reduced to 88 35 by a jury in Judge Fallersons court. Parmenas Hocker Redman Dies After Long Illness
Parmenas Hocker Redman aged 86 years 16 days died at home on Hazel street Tuesday morning July 16 1901 following a stroke five years earlier. Born June 30 1815 near Greenville Kentucky he moved to this state in 1847 and became a respected citizen. He married Josephine Brown in Cairo SC November 18 1866, who survives with two children George and Nora Redman. Funeral Wednesday at 9 am at the residence with Rev J W Smith officiating. Burial Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Arrested at Newport for burglary and theft
A teenage tramp burglarized W. J. McCullough’s Alicia home while Sunday school crowds gathered. Timberman Injured Dragging Logs Near Diaz
Jaynes McAffee, a timberman living on the John Baker farm two miles east of Diaz, was hauling logs Thursday when a chain entangled and a heavy log fell on his left leg. The small ankle bone was broken and pushed through the skin. Drs. J. M. and Oscar Jones treated and bandaged the limb, which is healing.
