Pocahontas Ark December 2 word spreads that the Black Rock bank robbers, who blew open the safe two years ago, have been captured. Two men once prominent in town business circles are suspected. The raid yielded $2,200 in cash and $10,000 in pearls owned by a local buyer.
Poplar Bluff Missouri December 2 The Cairo bound freight from Poplar Bluff sat waiting from 7 30 a m to 2 45 p m while workers refused to ride. Conductor Birdnow finally secured an extra brakeman after many refused and the train pulled out a quarter hour later.
Negroes from Louisiana and Mississippi move into the Pine Bluff area as Monroe Louisiana serves as the exodus headquarters. They cite race troubles in Louisiana and the stance of Governor Elect Vardaman observed in Mississippi as the cause for leaving. Planters in the region report they can now obtain sufficient farm labor.
Ray Bowen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Bowen, wandered from home Sunday to visit his grandmother in White County. After walking two miles toward Olyphant he turned back but crossed the river by ferry after a detour when a bridge guard would not let him return. Parents relieved to have him home.
Tatum, a worker for S. A. Marion at Strawberry, fell from a river bank near the ferry while seeking the Harry Waltz boat. He died Thursday from injuries after hopes of recovery faded. Remains were taken home for burial. Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Bracy hosted Euchre club at Laurel street residence amid goodwill.
Carbondale laundry hopeful F Wykes may buy the Decker plant and enter the local laundry business. Hon W A Oldfield plans for re election with likely no opposition. Dainty refreshments and a dance at the Bailey residence welcomed young guests with coffee sandwiches and pickles served by the hostess and helpers. Sheriff R W Bandy filed a $100,000 bond with Aetna Indemnity Company as Jackson county sheriff and collector, avoiding sureties.
The appeal cases of the prohis from Jackson county are before the circuit court for hearing with Judge F D Fulkerson presiding. The issues center on reviewing lower court rulings as the crowded docket shows little interest in the outcome.

Five prisoners escaped Newport jail between 5 and 6 pm on a Wednesday. Among them was Walter Horten who faced hanging on December 18. Outside help is suspected as doors were opened with keys. sheriff locked doors earlier and kept keys in an outer office. Nora Wallace recaptured. others pursued toward Chactaw depot and into Thorsten's area.
Mr and Mrs W A O Neal entertained friends at cards on Wednesday evening in honor of Miss Sanford of Searcy. Seven tables played euchre with unique tally cards. no prize awarded. Miss Bessie E L Watson led in wins, J W Astor the top gentleman. Catering included salad sandwiches olives coffee and almonds. Guests listed include Lucile Sanford Carrie Stevens Lula Empie Ladye Fagan and many others with numerous gentlemen and doctors present.
Andrew C. Darrow painter for R. H. Askew and Miss Clara Reeder of this city were quietly married Wednesday evening at 8:30 at the bride’s Remmel avenue home. The couple, longtime sweethearts, recalled a near-fatal lightning strike on a tree in their yard last summer during their courtship.
