Mrs Margaret Bundy Dies After Long Illness
Mrs Margaret Bundy aged 64 died at her home below White River Bridge around noon Monday from stomach cancer. An invalid for years, she leaves one son. Burial was held Tuesday afternoon at Coffeyville.

Death ends tragedy in Bailey murder suicide case
John Bailey shot his wife on Sunday August 18 then attempted suicide with two revolver shots. He died at 11:00 p.m. Thursday in the city jail of his wounds. Bailey, about thirty, was estranged from his family and lived in Little Rock for a year after coming from Oklahoma. He leaves a brother, Will Bailey, and his parents Mr and Mrs Alee Bailey of Calloway, who were notified but did not respond. The burial was held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the city cemetery under sheriff supervision.

Under a bankruptcy order, L N Nouss stock was sold Saturday afternoon at the Front street store by trustee M B Stuckey. The inventory valued at 5149 sold for 8712 cents on the dollar of 8681 50, Ferguson McKinney Dry Goods Co of St. Louis bought it, with J L Logan noting a further extension in the same building. The price surpasses indebtedness and may keep L N and Oliver Nouss in Newport, much to friends’ relief.

Curtis Cleared in Concealed Weapon Case at Batesville
Curtis, a Batesville young man, was arrested Wednesday night by Officer Campbell for carrying a concealed weapon. Tried before Mayor Grubbs with a five-man jury, the jury acquitted him after five minutes. Batesville witnesses testified to his good reputation and his attorneys Gustave Jones and W A Oldfield argued he was acting as a traveling man under the law.

Machinery Arrives for Joplin Deep Well Drilling Co
A carload of drilling machinery consigned to the Joplin Deep Well Drilling Company arrived in Iron Mountain yards Sunday from Joplin Missouri. The bill of lading shows shipment on the 20th inst via St Louis and a weight of 20700 pounds. The car was unloaded and the equipment hauled to the oil wellsite on Chastein's Addition for setup to commence work.

M Morris Cohn Dies After Long Illness in Newport
Morres Colln Morris Cohn a member of the Mercantile firm in Newylort died at Willis sanitarium between 11 and 12 Tuesday night after two years of sickness. He was a Prussian born immigrant who lived in St Louis Memphis and Newport, served in the Confederate army from 1861 to 1868, and leaves a son who died in infancy and a daughter who lived to eighteen. His body will be moved to Memphis to be buried beside his wife, with Mrs J Bernstein caring for him in his final years.

Thrown From Train Near Hoxie Ends in Death
A unnamed black man riding in freight No. 87 was knocked from a southbound section near Hoxie Sunday afternoon. His arm was severed and he bled heavily before a surgeon arrived, but he died during surgery. The brakeman responsible could not be identified. The train likely broke into three sections, with the incident likely from section No. 1.

The bale weighed pounds and was graded fall style middling inch staple. It was raised on land of Woltz Goldman who also purchased it. W T Shotter and J A Robing owned the bale and prepared it at the gin of the former, living seven miles north of the city in Harrisonville.
