Detective Ferguson Dies En Route Home on Train
W D Ferguson a private detective for the Anti Saloon League died on a train at Riverside Monday afternoon about three o clock while en route to his Shawnee Oklahoma home where his parents live. He had been in poor health but physicians thought he could complete the trip. The body was brought back to the city and placed in charge of R F Drummond. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday by Rev J W Smith with burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Ferguson born in Independence county had lived at Tuckerman and helped obtain search warrants for houses selling intoxicating drinks resulting in seizures. He was a star witness before the last grand jury in indictments against liquor vendors.

George W. Goddard longtime Planters House proprietor in this city died Wednesday in Leavenworth Kansas. He was from a good family with a Colorado Supreme Court justice among his brothers. He first married Elsie Goddard in Malvern Arkansas and ran the Not Springs Hotel. After his first wife’s death he moved here to manage the Planters, achieving success. He later married Mrs Pauline Sparks but their marriage ended in divorce. He was known as a generous man and his daughter's friends mourn his loss.
