Boys State Opens At Naval Base At Newport
The eighth annual Little Rhody Boys State opened at 11 am yesterday at Newport Naval Base. About 100 high school juniors from across the state were welcomed by Director Herbert F. Sears. The program teaches local, county, and state government through civic sponsorships. Cadets from West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, and the Coast Guard Academy spoke to the group. Governor elects and future officers will be sworn in, with graduation featuring Secretary of the Navy John J. Chafee and other dignitaries.

Internationally Known Punter Hector Ubertalli Plans July Exhibit
Internationally known punter and sculptor Hector Ubertalli of Palm Beach and Buenos Aires will show his work at the Cushing Memorial Gallery, Art Association, July 6 to 25. Three Sailors Assaulted In 2 Separate Incidents
Two separate assaults targeted sailors yesterday night. James Beasley of the destroyer Brownsantal was punched on Ed wart Street after refusing a quarter. Douglas Seidel and Lloyd Prudent of the destroyer Barry were jumped on Pelham Street. Seidel lost $22 from his wallet. A purse containing about $40 was snatched from Mrs. Frances H. Laws on Thames Street. A rock struck the window of Mrs. Josephine McDonald at 22 Catherine Street, and four windows were broken at Lenthal School by an unidentified man while children were present.

Elinor A Ronnevig 59 of West Brighton New York died Friday after a month long illness at St Vincent's Medical Center. Born Newport September 4 1911 she was daughter of Mrs Charles Rochefort and the late Charles Rochefort.
