Carsizep a sailboat owned by Westerly, carrying a woman and a boy Samuel A Coy, Capt Nathan Newbury and a son, sank on Sunday afternoon in the bay between Stonington and Watch Hill. The sloop Pour from Newport passed without helping. the passengers were rescued by Mr Dyer Smith.
Community members criticize Newport Daily News for a botched inquest into a drowned man found at Langley’s wharf. The notice alleges delays and improper examination, exposing the body to sun and crowd while clothing remained unchanged before burial at Potter’s Field. Authorities urged to address the misconduct.
