Van crash kills Benisch sixth fatal in Middletown year
Newport man Loring W. Benisch, 24, died after being pinned beneath his step van at West Main Road near the Zayre Shopping Center in Middletown. The crash, at 4 58 p m, left a sixth fatality for the city this year and injured James J. Silvia, 17, a passenger, with minor injuries. Police said Ernest T. Smith, 41, car driver, was not hurt.
