Middletown High School Class of 2013 Graduation Speech
Newport Gull president Chuck Paiva urged Middletown High School graduates to find their passion and pursue dreams as the 167 seniors received diplomas in a 50th anniversary ceremony. Paiva, also Newport team coach, emphasized effort and staying true to ideals during the event under a large tent with hundreds in attendance.

Newport bike ride honors victim and promotes safety
About 300 riders joined a Father's Day morning ride around Ocean Drive Newport with extensions to Middletown for a 25 mile loop. Sponsored by Bike Newport the event honors Elliot Kaminitz a Newport dentist killed while cycling last June. Kaminitz's family participated along with Rep David Cicilline city officials and local residents advocating bike safety and more bike lanes in Rhode Island.
