A 16 year old Newporter received 80 days at the Adult Correctional Institutions for a disturbance at the Daisy Hill Farm Store on Broadway and two other charges. William B. Cohen pleaded guilty to two counts of malicious mischief and one of theft in District Court. Judge Walter B. Orme suspended the sentence and placed Cohen on probation for a year. Police said a group of youths entered the store and began slipping items into pockets, with one youth grabbing bananas and another a sack of change. Store owner Joseph DeGioanni was pushed as a front door was smashed and a gumball machine broken. Cohen and another youth later stole bicycles from Donnia Davis and Joyce Aguiar. the Aquiar bicycle was recovered.

Five False Alarms Lead To Arrest In District Court
Robert H. O Laughtin of 141 Van Zandt Ave was charged in District Court this morning with five false alarms. Alarms were pulled from Coggeshall School and from Van Zandt and Hall Avenues. A fifth from John Clarke School. Judge Walter R. Orme continued the case and released O Loughlin in $400 bail. In a separate case Vincent Wallaring Jr of Johnston was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and pled innocent.

Jumping Hitchhiker Fractures Skull In Portsmouth Incident
A 14 year old boy, James Carson of 193 Redwood Road Portsmouth, suffered a skull fracture after leaping from a moving car on West Main Road. He was listed in fair to poor condition at Rhode Island Hospital Providence and identified as a Navy dependent. The driver, Tammnic Esposito of Taunton Mass 26, picked him up at Turkey Hill. After the leap the boy landed on pavement and was aided by Joseph Delli Franci and his wife at the scene. Carson received initial care at the Naval Base Hospital and was later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital.

Sentences Suspended In Drug Case In Tiverton
Joseph Bettencourt, 23, of Fall River pleaded no contest to four narcotics charges and one related count in Superior Court. He drew four one year suspended sentences and four years probation. a pistol carrying charge received a deferred sentence. The arrests followed a Dec. 9 robbery at Braz Brothers Market in Tiverton. Maximo Palacios, 34, of East Providence pleaded no contest to breaking and entering Nancy Kolman’s home on July 14, 1971 and is serving a sentence at the Adult Correctional Institutions. Palacios was indicted Oct. 12, 1971.
