Non-Union Workers Face Fee Dispute for City Staff
The bargaining agent for city employees seeks binding arbitration over an agency fee for non union workers. Public Employees Council 70 argues all city workers should pay dues. city manager Mallory forwarded the request to the city council which must appoint an arbitrator. The contract, covering 157 employees, expires June 30, 1974, and can be reopened July 1.

A former Newport boy, Aléyearayq, was killed in a subembile accident Saturday in Ocala Florida. William J. Garland of Orlando is named as the deceased, son of Howard G. Garland and Mrs. Jean Roach Pierce. He attended St. Mary's School in Newport before moving to Orlando with his mother and step-father. He is survived by his mother, grandmother Macy P. Tingley of Newport, and three brothers Howard G. Garland Jr Richard Pierce and Kevin Pierce. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Memorial Funeral Home.

A Newport man, Robert N. Blanchet, 20, was treated at Newport Hospital for a broken hand and a cut after his car collided with a vehicle driven by Marion P.
