Elmhurst Academy of the Sacred Heart in Portsmouth closed after this year due to nun shortages and rising operating costs. The final class of 50 girls received diplomas from Most Rev. Louis E. Sailor Surrenders to Navy After AWOL Flight
Duane T. Robinson, 21, Newport sailor, turned himself in to Naval authorities after going AWOL when his ship reportedly searched for Southeast Asia. He stayed at Channing Memorial Unitarian Church, is under mental and physical examination at Naval Hospital, with Lt. Gary Brown to represent him. Awaiting results, he remains on base with barracks living and limited movement, while statements connect his actions to discussions with adviser Phillip Wilayto and pastor Phillip Larson.
